FIEF: The First Economic Guild

Fief lore

For a millenia, the city of Vitruvia has lived under the despotic rule of an evil monarchy. Through unfair taxation, relentless policing, and religious fear-mongering, a Royal Family amassed a fortune at the expense of generations of good, common people.

The story of Fief

Blood and Coin begins in the aftermath of a violent coup that resulted in the sweeping execution of the Royal Family, its court, nobles and remaining supporters. Stepping into the resulting power vacuum were the orchestrators of this coup, a group known as… The Guild, an organization comprising and representing FIVE FACTIONS of commerce that provide the lifeblood of the city.

These Factions Are:

  1. THE FARMERS - Who produce the city’s food and harvest its natural resources.

  2. The Craftsmen - Who manufacture the goods and devices that allow the city to run.

  3. The Merchants - Who facilitate trade and set the prices in the city’s thriving marketplace.

  4. The Bishops - Who profit from the population’s desire to access the divine. They are the wealthiest of the factions.

  5. The Alchemists - Who heal and provide scientific solutions to problems, (and are rumored to also possess knowledge of magic).

Introduction

The story of Fief: Blood and Coin begins in the aftermath of a violent coup that resulted in the sweeping execution of the Royal Family, its court, nobles and remaining supporters. Stepping into the resulting power vacuum were the orchestrators of this coup, a group known as… The Guild, an organization comprising and representing FIVE FACTIONS of commerce that provide the lifeblood of the city.

You have heard that prosperity abounds in the new Vitruvia, and that the free market there can make you a fortune beyond your wildest dreams and desires.

But soon after you walk through the city’s gates, you are faced with a choice: WHICH FACTION WILL YOU JOIN?

Does the Farmer in you prefer to work the land? Does your pious upbringing compel you to pledge fealty to the Bishops? Or perhaps you’re a handy Craftsman? Or a well-traveled, sophisticated Merchant who is keen to haggle? Or maybe you're drawn to the mystical and potentially dark magic that underscores the work of the Alchemists?

No matter which Faction you choose, you must prepare yourself to be swept up in the ongoing power struggle for financial dominance and ultimate control of the city. This is the world of Fief: Blood and Coin.

Fief Marketplace

The Fief Marketplace is a NFT marketplace available on the Avalanche c-chain and soon to be available on Ethereum mainnet. Currently, only primary guild assets are available for purchase via the Fief Marketplace. Fief plans to release peer-to-peer trading following for more robust economic activity.

Fee Structure

The Fief Marketplace is under the control of the Merchant Faction, which receives a percentage of most transactions.

For primary guild asset sales, Fief will commonly provide a breakdown of expected fee distribution for that particular sale series. When peer-to-peer trading is enabled, a standard fee will be announced for all transactions.

In addition to Merchant Faction fee rewards, a percentage of peer-to-peer transactions will be distributed to FIEF single-sided staking and to Fief Transmutation Protocols.

Multi-Chain

In time, Fief aims to make the Fief Marketplace a multi-chain protocol by allowing payment options from multiple EVM-compatible network tokens.

FIEF's DEV Team is actively exploring opportunities to expand Fief's footprint in this regard.

FIEF Factions

Farmer

The Farmers are a hardy, resourceful collection of people whose close-knit families have worked the fields of Vitruvia for generations. Farmers take great pride in knowing that their work - the food they harvest, the lumber they fell, the game they hunt - provides the lifeblood that sustains the city.

They are the largest faction of the Guild – and they are the poorest. For centuries they’ve lived beneath the oppressive boot of the monarchy, relegated to the outskirts of the city - until now. In the wake of the uprising, Vitruvia is ripe with unprecedented economic opportunity. Now the Farmers have a chance to claim a voice and influence that for so long seemed out of reach.

Farmer Features & Abilities

  1. Farmers earn rewards from Fief Guild's protocols related to virtual worlds and land.

  2. Farmers earn rewards from Resource Gathering actions performed by all users.

Craftsman

The second largest Faction of the Guild is the Craftsmen. Relying heavily upon the raw materials cultivated by the Farmers, the Craftsmen are an eclectic and diverse group of fervent builders and imaginative designers. The Craftsmen make their living designing and constructing everything from household items to the houses that hold them to the equipment and infrastructure that connect and fortify the bustling city of Vitruvia.

Under the monarchy, the Craftsmen were largely underrepresented in government, and were prevented from peddling their wares directly in a free market. However, now that The Queen has been deposed, the Craftsmen are unbridled in what they can produce and with whom they are allowed to do business. At last they have their chance to fashion a fortune worthy of their past and present contributions to the city - after all, they literally built the place.

Craftsman Features & Abilities

  1. Craftsmen earn rewards from Fief Guild's protocols related to in-game NFTs.

  2. Craftsmen earn rewards from Crafting actions performed by all users.

Merchant

Unlike the Farmers and Craftsmen, the Merchants prospered under the Monarchy. They were the direct beneficiaries of the Queen’s economic structure - she allowed them to fix prices and markets to their collective benefit. The Merchants are now threatened by the financial enfranchisement of what they view as the “baser” factions.

Now that the Queen is dead, so too is their complete monopoly over the markets. They can no longer unfairly mark up prices or skim exorbitant commissions. Instead they must actively seek to meet their customers' needs - they must negotiate, maintain supply to meet demand, and even travel abroad to procure rare foreign goods and materials. For if the Merchants can’t maintain the prosperity of the marketplace, another faction will step in and take control.

Merchant Features & Abilities

  1. Merchants earn fees on trading activity performed on the Fief Marketplace. This includes first and third-party assets, once they are introduced.

  2. Merchants earn rewards associated with Exploration game actions performed by all users.

Alchemist

The Alchemists are the scientists of Vitruvia. Amongst their ranks are healers, chemists, botanists, astronomers and inventors, to name a few. They are master problem solvers in possession of a seemingly limitless store of knowledge, the collected result of years of study and experimentation. Across the centuries they have stymied plagues, famines, and numerous enemies at the city gates. The Monarchy long held them in high esteem for their contributions to the health and well being of the city, but was always wary of them, for there are rumors that many of the Alchemist's finest solutions were achieved through nefarious and otherworldly magic. For this reason they faced persecution multiple times through the years, especially at the hands of the religious faction, The Bishops.

Though neither as numerous nor as subjugated as the Farmers and Craftsmen, they are still ostracized. Typically they are found cloistered in their Tower, locked in meditation and study. However now that the monarchy has fallen and a more open minded sentiment is sweeping the populace, they are beginning to emerge, hungry for power and acceptance.

Alchemist Features & Abilities

  1. Alchemists earn rewards on all gamified DeFi protocols that Fief Guild develops.

  2. Alchemists earn rewards from Conjuring game actions performed by all users.

Bishop

The smallest of the Factions. The Pious. The Devout. The Bishops have existed for as long as The Monarchy, rising together and working in concert to amass great wealth and power. Some say they were even the “hidden hand” that truly ruled Vitruvia, as the Bishops used their influence to compel the Crown into imposing their radical theological views into the Rule of Law. The Bishops have long believed that only those who pay proper tribute to their church are entitled to a prosperous life - Apostates, Outsiders, and the Underclass are therefore undeserving.

In the wake of the Queen’s overthrow, the Bishops have thus far been able to retain their role as Vitruvia’s Masters of Coin. They still enforce a city-wide taxation system and control much of the monetary policy set in Vitruvia. However, with the rise of the free market and the growing ambitions of the other Factions, their grip on power is beginning to loosen. It is now up to The Bishops to reassert their dominance, or follow the Monarchy into ruin.

Bishop Features & Abilities
  1. Bishops earn fees on select protocols related to fungible tokens within the Fief Guild, including through exchange and lending concepts.

  2. Bishops earn global fees from all trading activity on Fief's decentralized exchange.

  3. Bishops earn fees on FIEF staking activity.

FIEF Token

Basics

The Fief Token ("FIEF") is a utility and reward currency that ties into the productivity of Fief's decentralized protocols. FIEF is the main game currency for Fief: Blood and Coin, in addition to all future Fief game titles.

On August 17, 2022 -- FIEF was migrated to become a mainnet Ethereum ERC-20 token. Please confirm you are using the correct FIEF before completing any transactions.

PLEASE NOTE: The token address of the NEW FIEF token on Ethereum is the same as the OLD token address on Avalanche (0xeA068Fba19CE95f12d252aD8Cb2939225C4Ea02D).

However, if you are transacting on Avalanche moving forward, you must now use the bridged version (0xa69D3DF658CA810aFcC42D8Bf5F604dDE382Bd26).

Global Utility
  • Payments within the Fief economy

  • Reward token for decentralized protocol and Faction productivity

Their DEV Team believes FIEF has the opportunity to become the most pervasive (and productive) token of the metaverse. Towards this end, they will be working to engrain FIEF into as many metaverse token economies as possible.

Land Plot Utility

As the primary game currency for all actions on land plots and the primary in-game currency of Blood and Coin, FIEF will have substantial utility across all layers of interaction.

An in-game version of FIEF will be used for the following (note, this list does not reference additional resource token costs):

  • Resource Gathering -- FIEF is required to boost Resource Gathering in Blood and Coin.

  • Item Crafting -- each asset costs FIEF to craft. The amount is dependent upon item type and rarity.

  • Item Conjuring -- each asset costs FIEF to conjure. The amount is dependent upon item type and rarity.

  • Exploration -- FIEF must be spent to accrue luxury resources or assets from Exploration.

  • Technology Advancement -- FIEF must be spent to purchase Knowledge Scrolls to unlock new technologies.

  • Unit Production -- FIEF must be spent to purchase Units.

FIEF Tokenomics

FIEF is designed to be highly scarce with a substantial portion of the total supply distributed via Initial Guild Membership NFTs, Metaverse Season Passes, protocol incentives and Fief Potions (more details available soon).

The total supply of FIEF will always be capped at 500,000,000.

IGM and Upgraded Models

Originally, 65% of the supply (325M) was set to be released via IGMs. However, IGMs will no longer be available for purchase after August 31, 2022 to make room for the Metaverse Season Pass reward model.

With the sunsetting of the IGM-based distribution of FIEF, the remaining supply attached to unsold IGMs after August 31, 2022 will be distributed through Season rewards, protocol incentives and Fief Potions.

This means that Season Passes will become a primary method by which FIEF is added into the circulating supply. This opens the door to precise supply controls that enables the Fief team to release more or less FIEF in any given Season based on market and protocol factors.

Notably, with this update, IGM holders will enjoy a far greater FIEF distribution than what was originally allocated to any single IGM. This is due to the fact that the primary method of distributing FIEF will now be through Season reward tiers, thus you will be able to keep stacking FIEF far after your 200-day primary rewards have concluded.

Reserve, Team and Advisors
  • 20% of the supply (100M) will be allocated to the team with a 12-month cliff and 30-month linear vesting period. These tokens will be used to attract and retain top talent to avoid the pitfalls experienced by numerous other DeFi projects.

  • An additional 2% (10M) will be allocated to advisors and strategic partners that help advance the Fief mission with identical vesting terms to the team supply.

  • 10% of the supply (50M) will be immediately released to the Fief Reserve. These tokens will be used to fuel liquidity mining programs to assure sustained liquidity across decentralized exchange platforms and more
