What is Moonpot?

Moonpot is a win-win savings game powered by Beefy Finance and launched on BNB Chain in July 2021. Since then the ecosystem has grown to include NFTs, plans for a GameFi platform, and — in March 2022 — a multi-chain future thanks to Moonpot's launch on Fantom.

Deposit crypto into one of our Moonpots and you immediately earn interest on your assets each and every day. Once in a Moonpot you are also entered into a weekly prize draw at the same time. It's simple: everyone in each pot is in with a chance of winning big-money Moonpot prizes paid out in crypto. And everyone always earns interest.

Your deposit gives you tickets for the prize draw. But even if you don't win you can always get your crypto back with added interest.

Please note there is a 10-day Fairplay Timelock on your deposit, or payment of a 2.5% Fairness Fee (or less) if you would like to exit early. Winnings are also subject to the Fairplay Timelock with a Fairness Fee of a maximum of 5%.

What is $POTS?

$POTS is Moonpot’s token that allows holders to share in part of the revenue of the platform. By staking $POTS in Ziggy’s Pot, you receive a portion of 5% of the interest earned across all Moonpots.

Ziggy’s Pot also has a regular prize draw that pays out another 5% of the platform’s interest to the winners. But wait, there’s more!

$POTS also provide voting power in Moonpot’s DAO governance model. Holders can make and vote on proposals created by the $POTS-holding community. Buy $POTS to earn, win, and vote. What's not to like?

How is it possible to get tickets to win prizes, but not lose any money?

Your deposit into one of our savings pots acts as your entry ticket. In a traditional prize draw your stake is taken from you because the prize money comes from everyone’s entry fees. But Moonpot is different. It's a win-win savings game.

The assets you deposit are grouped together and used to earn returns from the decentralized financial markets. And so that’s where the prize money comes from — interest earned by Moonpot through the platform’s savings strategies.

Your stake helps create the prize fund, but is never taken from you. So you play for no loss! This is how it’s possible to be part of a win-win prize game, but not lose any money.

How do I play Moonpot?

Moonpot the platform is made up of different ‘Moonpots’ or ‘pots’ where users can deposit their crypto to earn interest. In basic terms, you can think of a Moonpot as a crypto savings account.

But it’s more than that. Because every user in the pot is also automatically entered into a regularly held prize draw with no risk to their deposit. Each week the smart contract fairly and randomly selects a prize-winning ticket that is rewarded with a crypto prize.

All of this means that our Moonpots are basically like a savings account where you are also part of a regular prize draw.

Does Moonpot have its own token? If so: why?

Moonpot has its own token called $POTS, which acts as both a governance token and a revenue-sharing mechanism.

There is a maximum supply of 10,000,000 $POTS to be circulated.

By holding $POTS and staking it in our governance pot ("Ziggy's Pot) you will receive a proportional amount of the platform’s revenue.

These rewards are also in $POTS that come from open-market purchases. This creates buying pressure on the token.

You will also be part of Ziggy’s Pot’s weekly prize draw.

In addition to interest and weekly prizes, $POTS is a fair and equitable way of distributing voting power in the platform.

The more $POTS you have, the more voting power you have. The reason behind this is simple.

Token holders are concerned with the health and success of Moonpot due to the reward mechanism mentioned above. Users with larger amounts have more of a stake in the platform and its longevity.
