Each holder receives exclusive access to experiences, events, IP licensing opportunities, and more.

What's Going On In Pudgy World?

The Pudgy team is working on a couple avenues in tandem with the goal of growing the brand:

Community Building

The Pudgy Penguins community is the core and heart of the brand. In the beginning, the community had a very prominent presence on Twitter and Discord, with many highly influential people in the crypto industry. Over time, as more people joined, communication developed on more platforms, such as Telegram and WeChat, and the community became more diversified. 

Within the community, there are clubs that have formed around different interests, passions, and regions. These clubs are self-motivated and make fantastic inner hubs for people to join and participate in. Some of the prominent clubs are Pengu Princesses, Pudgylicious, Pudgy Gaming, and Pudgy Fitness.

The region-based clubs include Pudgy Asia, Pudgy Europe, and Pudgy China.

IP Development

Since Pudgy Penguins’ inception, everyone has recognized their potential to go viral and global. Pudgy Penguins believes the IP of something is only as good as the utilization of it, so they have tapped into their own connections with major distributors, brands, and companies with the main purpose of offering more opportunities to their holders. In addition to reaching out to their own network, Pudgy Penguins formed a partnership team to assist in the process of growing the Pudgy Penguins brand through collaborations and community involvement.  

With that being said, Pudgy Peguins are one of the first NFT companies to offer major licensing opportunities to their holders.

Lil Pudgys

Pudgy Penguins is a collection of 8,888 NFTs. Lil Pudgys are the extension of that collection, and make a cute and affordable entry into the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem.

Lil Pudgys is a collection of 22,222 penguins; 8,888 claimable for free per Pudgy Penguin, and 13,334 sold in a public sale in December 2021.

At large, Lil Pudgys enjoy the same perks as the Pudgy Penguins. Both have access to experiences, events, IP licensing opportunities and more. Pudgy Penguins may be assigned more spots than Lil Pudgys when a particular opportunity is limited in quantity. On the other hand, some initiatives could be exclusive to Lil Pudgys.

Lil Pudgys Are Cross-Chain

Utilizing LayerZero’s omnichain technology, every Lil Pudgy has the ability to choose between a few prominent blockchains to live on. Lil Pudgys were born on Ethereum, but can bridge to and between Polygon, Binance Smart Chain, and Arbitrum. 

The initiative to become omnichain was part of the Pudgy team’s efforts to expand and distribute the reach of Pudgy Penguins IP. By expanding their horizons to more blockchains, the possibilities of working with various businesses that work on those chains open up.  

Pudgy Rods

Pudgy Rods, AKA “rogs”, (previously “Pudgy Presents”) were released as a free-to-claim NFT on August 30th, 2021, one for each Pudgy Penguin held. They were released as eggs wrapped in red ribbons, and their contents were kept as a surprise.

During the time between the release and the reveal on Christmas, people were speculating about the possible outcomes of the eggs. After months of anticipation, on Christmas Eve, the presents revealed. People generally didn't know what to expect, but were extremely underwhelmed with the unveiling of the fishing rods.

The fishing rods reveal was not well received by the community or by Crypto Twitter in general. It was widely considered a flop, and it strengthened people's already existing FUD cases against Pudgy Penguins and its founding members.

That Christmas eve signified a turning point in the Pudgy Penguins history.

Since its inception, Pudgy Penguins had to deal with a lot of skepticism and FUD. But every time things go wrong, the community comes together with great strength, gives a piece of their mind, and works together to change things. That day was no different, and it was felt that even people who weren’t part of the community cared enough to show what they felt about the situation.

The Pudgy Rods have developed a layer of utility and will serve as a multiplier for certain licensing deals, on-chain drops, or claims Puggy Penguins may do in the future.

Soulbound Tokens

A soulbound token (SBT) is a non-transferable token that lives in a wallet. Because of the SBTs’ nature of being non-transferable, they can be used to stamp digital wallets forever.

Puggy Penguins developed it based on the learnings found in Vitalik Buterin’s whitepaper and EIP4973. 

On July 22, 2022, on the Pudgy Penguins one year anniversary, Puggy Penguins rolled out and activated one of the first use cases for a Soulbound token in Web3, in a way that hasn’t been done or conceptualized before. Every Pudgy Penguin holder was airdropped a "truePengu" token based on a snapshot that was taken at 12AM EST, on July 22, 2022.

Pudgy soulTransport

In January, 2023, Puggy Penguins introduced the Pudgy soulTransport, which is a decentralized way for sub-communities to issue Soulbound Tokens.

soulTransport allows the distribution of SBTs by sub-communities to reward members & attract new ones!

The vision is to empower members of the Pudgy Penguins community to participate in, create, and market the ecosystem around their own passions and interests. 

Similar to a college club system, users will be able to apply, get approved, and receive brand support.

The deployed contract is the new owner of the penguPins smart contract, which allows a more configurable access system. This means that the owners of clubs and initiatives now have control over how Soulbounds are given out and how rewards are given within the club.
